As the years go by and I am approaching 31 years serving as a pastor and evangelist, I must confess, not much shocks me anymore. We live in a fallen world. People sin. Don’t ever succumb to the temptation to point fingers and say, “How awful! Well, I would never do what that guy did!” Listen, anyone is capable of anything where sin is concerned.
My Bible says, “Now all these things happened to them for examples. They are written as an admonition to us, upon whom the end of the ages has come. THEREFORE, LET HIM WHO THINKS HE STANDS TAKE HEED, LEST HE FALL. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:11-13).
And if someone close to you does fall hard, remember this:
“Brothers, if any one of you strays from the truth and someone corrects him, let him know that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins” (James 5:19-20).
Let’s not make enemies of the vast mission field that surrounds us. Not only that, but may we, as Christ followers, not ‘shoot’ our own wounded, but restore them.
Dear one, stay very close to Christ and the Cross.
