Whether you realize it or not, everything you have came from God. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 4:7, "For who makes you to differ from another and what do you have that you've not received? Now if you've received it, why do you glory as if you had not received it?" Most people don't look at the money they receive on their job as being a gift from God. They proudly state that "I earned this! This is my money." But according to this scripture in 1 Corinthians 4:7, you don't have anything that you did not receive from the hand of God. You may have done some work, but it's God who gave you the strength, the health, the talents that you're using.
The truth is, everything that you have, though you may have gone and worked for it; hey, it all comes from God. Our God is the one who appointed you to be birthed in a free nation in a time when we have the greatest prosperity in the history of the world. You didn't cause that to happen. You could have been born someplace else. You could have been born as one of the poor children we read about who are abused or sold into s_x slavery. You didn't do anything to make yourself this way. So whether you recognize it or not, everything you have really belongs to God. So, ask Him, “Lord, what do you want me to do with all you’ve entrusted to me that I might glorify you?”
You and I would be wise to humble ourselves today and give thanks with a grateful heart.
